Observation

What does this passage teach about who Christ is? What was John’s attitude toward Christ?

Application

What attitudes do I need to change regarding who Christ is and what place He has in my life? What action steps can I take?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord Jesus, Eternal God and Creator and Sustainer of all things, I thank You and praise You for being the Light that the darkness cannot overcome. I thank You that You are my life. Thank You for taking on flesh and dwelling on this earth so that You could die on my behalf, purchasing my redemption by Your blood and resurrection power. I thank You, Lord, that by Your Holy Spirit I was led to see that Jesus is the one and only unique Son of God, and that because I believe and have received Him, I have been made a child of the Almighty God! May I, like John, proclaim Your glory and lead others to the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Pat and Hannah Kelley
  • The Leonard family
  • The Morgan family
  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
