Observation

Why were the crowds looking for Jesus? How did He respond? What can we do to perform God’s work? What did Jesus mean when He spoke of eating His flesh and drinking His blood?

Application

How should I respond to people who use the church simply to get a meal? How do I need to believe Christ more and so carry out His work? In what ways can I “eat His flesh and drink His blood?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord Jesus, may I never seek You simply out of a desire to satisfy my bodily desires, but, trusting You to provide for my physical needs, may I continually seek to do Your work through believing You more–in addition to my daily bread that perishes, please daily give me more of You, the bread of life! I thank You that because I have come to You by the will of the Father who drew me, You will never cast me out and I will never be lost, but I will be raised on the last day. Help me to be more grateful, and in my gratitude may I follow Your example and seek not to do my own will, but the will of the Father. Help me to daily study Your Word, and so be taught by God. Help me to partake of Your life and walk in it, rather than living by my own sinful desires and pursuits. May I always remember that Your Spirit brings life, but my flesh brings death. May I never desert You, but follow You all the days of my life. Amen.
