Scripture

John 9

Observation

What does this passage teach us regarding the plight of those with diseases or physical infirmities? What was the healed man’s response to Jesus’ question (35-38)?

Application

Do I fall into the trap of assuming people’s circumstances are a result of sin in their life before I take the time to know anything about them? Do I give glory to God for the good gifts He gives? Do I respond to Him in belief and worship?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
“Dear Heavenly Father, Change my heart. Help me not to jump to conclusions about people, especially those who are suffering. And when I suffer, help me to use it as a way to display You in my life. Help me to do Your work until the night has come when I can work no more. May I be a beacon of Your light in this dark world. Remind me to give You the glory for all the wonderful things You do, and give me a heart that believes and worships You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

Ministries:

  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16
