Observation

What two natures reside within the born again Christian? How will we be delivered?

Application

In light of the previous chapter, what have I learned about my sinful nature before I came to Christ compared to after I received Him? How can I “feed” my new nature and “starve” my old nature today?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, I thank You that because of Jesus, although I still live in a sinful body I can rejoice that one day I will be delivered from this body of death and never be tempted by sin again. Thank You for renewing my spirit and giving me a new nature that delights in You. Help me to choose to follow my new nature and to daily die to my old one. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

Ministries:

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Mountain Home…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
  • For the air base: safety for military and their families (especially those who are deployed), sound military strategies by commanders, impact for Christ in areas where deployed

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! – 2 Corinthians 5:17
