Scripture

Romans 1:18-32

Read or listen to today’s passage at Bible Gateway:

Observation

Against what is God’s wrath being poured and why? Why are people who claim ignorance regarding spiritual matters without excuse? What does this passage teach us about God’s view of homosexuality?

Application

Do I glorify God and give thanks to Him? In what ways and how often? Do I ever claim ignorance as an excuse for my foolish behavior and rebellion? Are there any ways in which I need to line my perspective on homosexuality with God’s?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, I thank You that In Jesus, I have been delivered from Your wrath into Your grace. I declare the truth that You alone are God and Jesus, Your Son and co-equal, became God in the flesh and His shed blood and resurrection power is the only means by which men may be saved. Anyone who suppresses this truth is godless and wicked. Lord, I thank You and glorify You as God, the creator of all things. I thank You that since the creation of the world You have made plain the invisible qualities of Your eternal power and divine nature; they can be clearly seen in Your creation, and anyone who claims ignorance of You is without excuse. Mankind has always known You, Lord, but has chosen to ignore You and rebel against You, and in Your perfect justice You turned them over to the depravity of their chosen path. I renounce all arguments and philosophies that set themselves up against You, and I agree with You that homosexuality and all sexual relationships except between a husband and wife in marriage are sin. Everyone who rejects You and Your plan of salvation deserve death, and they not only continue in their wicked patterns of behavior but also approve of those who do so. I pray that their hearts will be softened, they will see their sin and their need for a Savior, and they will turn to You in repentance and faith and accept Your grace through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
