Observation

What is of first importance in the Christian faith? Why is the resurrection of Christ so important?

Application

Do I ever waver in my stance on the things listed as of first importance in today’s passage? Do I ever make other issues not listed here more important than those that are? Do I believe, stand on, and proclaim that Christ is risen from the dead?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, Thank You for the Gospel which I have received and on which I have taken my stand. I thank You that I am saved by this Gospel, because I hold firmly to it and nothing else as the source and completion of my salvation. I declare along with Paul that this is of first importance: That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that after He was raised He appeared to many people, including Peter and the twelve, as well as to Paul on the road to Damascus. I proclaim that I believe Christ is risen, so my faith and preaching are not in vain. I thank You that I have hope in Christ not only in this life, but for all eternity. I thank You that just as in Adam all die, so in Christ all who believe will be made alive, for He has conquered death and will raise me from the dead, for He was raised first. With great eagerness and joy I look forward to the day when all His enemies will be destroyed, and last of all, death, and all things will be made subject to Him and then He will make Himself subject to You, Father. May I live in this great hope and glory and stop sinning, walking in the light of Your amazing grace and surpassing love. In the precious Name of Jesus, Amen!
