Observation

What is the principle of sowing and reaping? With what kind of attitude are we to give? From where does what we sow and reap come?

Application

Should I give with the expectation that giving $50 means I will “reap” $500? When I give, is it from a cheerful and willing heart? Do I give thanks to God for providing me with even what I am giving?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Heavenly Father, Give me a heart that is eager to help my brothers and sisters in Christ. May my enthusiasm stir others to action. Help me to remember that whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. May I always give cheerfully and not reluctantly or grudgingly, for You love a cheerful giver. You are able to make all grace abound to me, so that in all things at all times, I will have everything I need and abound in every good work. You are the one who supplies everything–seed to the sower and bread for food–and You will also supply and increase my store of seed and enlarge the harvest of my righteousness. You make me rich in every way; may I always be thankful for the wealth of blessings You bestow and be generous on every occasion, resulting in thanksgiving to You. May I be able to participate not only in supplying the needs of Your people, but also in overflowing in many thanks to You. I ask that as a result of any service You may enable me to perform, men will praise You and the Gospel of Christ will be furthered. May others’ hearts go out to me because of the surpassing grace You have given me. Thank You for Your indescribable gift! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Scott & Kristi Guinn
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Patrick Hall
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for Outreach Ministries

  • God’s creative provision
  • For sound financial management and strategies
  • Salvation and spiritual growth for those to whom they minister
  • God’s anointing and leading for projects and programs
  • Volunteers and workers

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. – Philippians 4:6
