Scripture

Hebrews 1

Read or listen to today’s passage at Bible Gateway:

Observation

How is Jesus superior to the prophets? To the angels?

Application

Do I lessen the person, power, and position of Christ by equating Him to or only slightly above an angel or a prophet (or even Satan in regard to His power)? Do I give Him the glory, honor, and praise that are due Him?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father, Thank You that though in the past You spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at different times and in different ways, Your revelation of Yourself culminated in Your Son, the Lord Jesus, whom You appointed heir of all things and through whom You made the universe. He is the radiance of Your glory, the exact expression of Your nature, and He sustains all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of Your Majesty on high. So He became higher in rank than the angels, just as the name He inherited is superior to theirs. I thank You that His throne will last forever and ever, and i will spend eternity with You because of Him! In Jesus’ name, Amen!

  • L – Labor (their job or school)

  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
