Observation

What was Jesus’ prayer in the garden? What was His instruction to the disciples (38)?

Application

Do I follow my requests for God to remove a difficulty in my life with “Yet not what I will, but what You will”? Do I give effort to staying alert and praying that I will not fall into temptation?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Thank You for the sacrament of the Lord’s table, which helps me to remember the great sacrifice that Jesus made for me. Help me to humble myself before You, such that even in the most dire circumstances I can sincerely ask that Your will and not mine would be done. Help me to be more dedicated to communing with You in prayer, even if it means I lose some sleep, so that I will not fall into temptation. I ask all of this in the name of the One who gave Himself for me, Jesus Christ. Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for Public Service Professionals (Firefighters, Law enforcement, and medical personnel)…

  • Strength to serve well
  • Safety/health
  • Salvation for lost & ministry opportunities for saved
  • Strong family/marriage relationships
  • Strong, God-honoring friendships

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour. – 1 Peter 5:8
