Observation

What causes the psalmist to respond in praise to God (8:3-8)? How are worship and witness related (9:11)? What comfort does 10:14 give us?

Application

Do I give glory to God as the Creator? Do I sing praises to the Lord and proclaim what He has done? Do I believe God sees my trouble and grief, and trust in Him to get me through it?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, How magnificent is Your name throughout the earth! You have covered the heavens with Your majesty. When I observe Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You set in place, what is man that You remember him, the son of man that You look after him? You made him little less than God and crowned him with glory and honor. I thank you with all my heart. I will declare all Your wonderful works. I will rejoice and boast about You. I will sing about Your name, Most High. You are a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know Your name trust in You because You have not abandoned those who seek You, LORD. I sing to You, LORD, and I proclaim Your deeds among the peoples. You Yourself have seen trouble and grief, observing it in order to take the matter into Your hands. The helpless entrusts himself to You; You are a helper of the fatherless. You are King forever and ever, yet You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully, doing justice for the fatherless and the oppressed, so that men of the earth may terrify them no more. Thank You, Father! Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for Nampa

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. – Matthew 24:42 (NIV)
