Observation

How did Rahab demonstrate faith in God by her actions? Read Hebrews 11:31 and Matthew 1:5 (part of the lineage of Jesus). What does this reveal about God’s perspective on the binding nature of promises?

Application

Do I consider some people beyond redemption, looking down on them rather than understanding God can use them mightily?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Thank You that Rahab had the faith to believe that she needed to protect Israel’s agents, and for believing that Israel would keep the promise not to harm her family if she followed the conditions of the promise. Thank You for using a pagan prostitute to fulfill Your will, and for including her in the human lineage of Jesus, showing that no one is beyond redemption, and that You can use anyone who trusts in You, regardless of status. Help me to view people with this same perspective, and forgive me for my pride and arrogance when I have looked down on such people and thought I was somehow better than they. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew)
  • Brian & Eileen Davis

Missionaries:

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

CLF:

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, in order to know what has been freely given to us by God. – 1 Corinthians 2:12 (HCSB)
