Observation

How did Jacob respond to God’s call (2)? What important observation does he make (3)?

Application

Are there “foreign gods” in my life that need getting rid of? Do I need to be purified? Can I look back at my life and see how God has been with me everywhere I’ve gone? Have I given Him praise, thanks, and glory for that?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, I confess that I have allowed “foreign gods” to creep into my life, and in the name of Jesus I renounce them and declare that You alone are Lord and God! Please purify my heart and mind and make them like Jesus. Thank You for being with me everywhere I go. Help me to live in a growing awareness of your presence. I ask You in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

Missionaries:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead – 1 Peter 1:3 (HCSB)
