Observation

Why was there great joy in the city (5-8)? Why did Peter rebuke Simon, and what was his response? How did Philip witness to the Ethiopian official (35)? To what result?

Application

Do I take great joy in the Word and work of God? How do I respond to rebuke and correction? Have I studied the Word so that I could show someone reading it how it points to Christ?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear God, I rejoice in You! I rejoice in Your Word and in Your work! Give me a heart that does not rebel against just correction and rebuke, but that receives it and responds to it immediately. Give me a desire to study Your Word such that I will be able to show someone from the very Scripture they just read how it points to the Jesus Christ my Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Joe & Sheala Lehosit
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

Ministries:

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Meridian

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through Him. – 1 Corinthians 8:6 (HCSB)
