Observation

What happened to the work’s progress in this chapter? Under what guise did their adversaries attempt to foil the work?

Application

Do I fall into the trap of assuming everything will be smooth sailing if I am doing the Lord’s work? Do I exercise discernment as to the people to whom I listen and allow to participate in that work? Do I understand that the government is not always going to be friendly toward the cause of Christ?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear God, Keep me focused on You and that to which You have called me, regardless of any obstacles I may face. Give me wisdom and discernment to understand that not everyone who offers help really intends to help, and that the governments of men may well use their power to keep me from progressing. May my heart and mind continue to persevere even when the rest of me cannot. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Joe & Sheala Lehosit
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

Ministries:

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Therefore if the Son sets you free, you really will be free. – John 8:36 (HCSB)
