Observation

How does one “conquer the world”? What is the only “litmus test” for eternal life?

Application

Do I walk in the light, following God’s commands and loving His people? Do I truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the only source of eternal life?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I believe that Jesus is the Christ and therefore that I have been fathered by You. Let my life show that I love You, Father, and that I love Your children. By this I will know that I love the children of God: whenever I love You and obey Your commandments. For Your commandments do not weigh me down, because everyone who has been fathered by You conquers the world. This is the conquering power that has conquered the world: my faith. Now who is the person who has conquered the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? I believe Jesus Christ is the one who came by water and blood — not by the water only, but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify, the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three are in agreement. If we accept the testimony of men, Your testimony is greater, because this is the testimony You have testified concerning Your Son. (The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe You calls You a liar, because he has not believed in Your testimony concerning Your Son.) And this is the testimony: You have given me eternal life, and this life is in Your Son. The one who has the Son has this eternal life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have this eternal life. Thank You for giving me eternal life! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace – Ephesians 1:7 (HCSB)
