Observation

What specific way does this psalm instruct us to praise and worship (1-2)? For what things should we sing and rejoice?

Application

Do I praise God for being a refuge for His people throughout history, and for His divine power? Do I ask Him for His blessing, protection and favor, and that His work will be seen by His people?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, I sing to You, LORD, and praise Your name; I proclaim Your salvation today. I declare Your glory in my nation among the people. For You are great and highly praised; You are feared above all gods. All other gods are false, but You made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before You; strength and beauty are in Your sanctuary. I ascribe to You glory and strength. I ascribe to You, LORD, the glory of Your name; I bring an offering of praise before Your court and I worship You in the splendor of Your holiness. All the earth trembles before You. May all the nations say: “The LORD reigns. The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken. He judges the peoples fairly.” Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let the sea and all that fills it resound. Let the fields and everything in them exult. Then all the trees of the forest will shout for joy before You, for Christ is coming–for He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with His faithfulness. In His name I pray, Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

Missionaries:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray that God will use Operation Christmas Child to bring joy to boys and girls who are facing poverty, sickness, or war.

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Ontario…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body–whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free–and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. – 1 Corinthians 12:13 (HCSB)
