Scripture

Psalm 84

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Observation

What does the psalmist long for (2)? Why (4-7)? How does he describe spending time with God (10)?

Application

Do I long to spend time in the presence of God? Do I consider one day with Him better than thousands anywhere else?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, Give me a heart that yearns to be in communion with You to the point that I cry out for You and praise You continually. For You are the only source of true joy and happiness, and You alone are my source of strength. Better one day with You than thousands anywhere else! For You, LORD God, are a sun and shield. You give grace and glory and do not withhold the good from those who live with integrity. LORD of Hosts, happy is the person who trusts in You! In the name of Jesus I offer You thanks and praise. Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

Missionaries:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. – 1 Corinthians 13:13 (HCSB)
