Observation

How does the psalmist describe his response to God’s promises (162)? What benefits go to those who love the Lord’s instruction (165)? What is his final request of the psalm (176)?

Application

Do I rejoice over the promises of God? Do I have the abundant peace and stability of one who loves His instruction? Do I humble myself before God, admitting my own helplessness and asking for His leading?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father in Heaven, I rejoice over Your promises like one who finds vast treasure. I praise You for Your righteous judgments. Give me a heart that loves Your instruction, for only then may I have abundant peace and nothing will make me stumble. Let my cry reach You, LORD; give me understanding according to Your word. Let my plea reach You; rescue me according to Your promise. My lips pour out praise, for You teach me Your statutes. My tongue sings about Your promise, for all Your ways are righteous. May Your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts. I long for Your salvation, LORD, and Your instruction is my delight. I wander like a lost sheep; thank You for the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, who came to seek and to save those who, like me, were lost! In His name, Amen.
