Observation

What does David ask of God in Psalm 140? what about in Psalm 141:3-4?

Application

Do I ask God to protect my loved ones and me from wicked, violent people? Do I ask Him to protect me from myself and my own sinful desires?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father God, I thank You that You are the Almighty who can defeat any foe and put down any rebellion whenever You choose. I ask that You would watch over my loved ones and me, and protect us from those who would wish to do us harm in whatever way that might be manifested. But I also ask, Lord, like David did, that You would protect me from myself: from sinful or careless speech, from a wicked heart and sinful desires, and from sharing in the sin of others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)

Ministry:

  • Genesis World Mission

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the children who enroll in “The Greatest Journey” follow-up discipleship program, that they will come to faith in Jesus and tell their friends and family about Jesus.

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6 (HCSB)
