Scripture

Psalm 146-147

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Observation

How long should we give praise to God (146)? How does the psalmist describe praise in Psalm 147? What does God do for those in pain and difficulty (147:3,6)?

Application

Do I desire to praise God until my final breath? Do I find praising Him good and pleasant and lovely? Do I run to Him for help and healing when I am brokenhearted and afflicted?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, I will praise You all my life; I will sing to You as long as I live. May I never trust in men or the institutions of men, for they cannot save. I am happy because my help is You, God of Jacob! My hope is in You, LORD my God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them. You remain faithful forever and Your reign is forever. It is good to sing to you, for praise is pleasant and lovely. You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds, and You help the afflicted. You are the Great Maker of all things, and the Great Provider for Your creatures. The power of man is nothing to You. I exalt You, Lord God! I give thanks for Your many blessings, and for the great gifts of Your written Word, the Bible, and the Living Word, Jesus Christ. In His name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins
  • Patti Doty

Missionaries:

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for God to direct each shoe box gift into the hands of just the right child so that each one will experience His unconditional love and provision.

CLF:

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for Boise & Garden City…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
  • Gowan Field Military Base

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
The LORD your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy. – Zephaniah 3:17 (HCSB)
