Scripture

Haggai 1

Observation

Why is God upset in this chapter? What did He do (9-11)? When the people responded in obedience, what did God do (13-14)?

Application

Do I put my own comforts and interests ahead of the Lord’s work? Do I respond in obedience when He points it out to me?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father God, I confess that too often I am focused on gratifying my own desires instead of carrying out Your will. I pray that it won’t come to a point where You have to bring some devastating situation into my life to get my attention, but that I will turn to You in repentance and obedience, and that You will bless me and stir up my heart for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Tris & Chris Miller
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael & Jenn Morgan

Ministry:

  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Rural towns in Treasure Valley – Emmett, Greenleaf, Homedale, Marsing, Middleton, New Plymouth, Parma, Payette, Wilder, Weiser, etc…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ. – Colossians 2:8 (HCSB)
