Malachi 1

Observation

What characteristic of God is addressed here (2)? What behavior of the priests does God condemn (6-14)?

Application

Do I thank God for His faithful love and bask in it? Do I insult Him by being disobedient, sinful, and greedy, giving Him what doesn’t matter to me and keeping the best for myself?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Keep me from the sin of the priests and Israelites, who brought you the dredges and kept the best for themselves. May my life be like David’s, who refused to bring You what cost him nothing. Thank You for Your faithful love to Your people! In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover
  • Fred & Gwen Iovine
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for business professionals providing goods and services

  • God to be glorified by excellent work
  • Ministry to occur in the workplace
  • Godly employers and employees
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Sound financial strategies
  • Strong, God-honoring relationships

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Don’t you know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body. – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (HCSB)
