Scripture

Matthew 11

Observation

What did Jesus say to John’s disciples when they asked if He was the Messiah? Why did He denounce some of the local towns? What does He promise those who come to Him?

Application

Do I recognize Jesus as the true Messiah–the God-man and Savior of the world? Do I give Him glory and trust in Him and rest in Him?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and the Savior of the world! I believe He made the blind to see, the lame to walk, those with skin diseases to be healed, the deaf to hear, the dead to be raised, and the poor to hear the good news, and I thank You that though I was spiritually Blind, lame, deaf, poor, and dead, He raised me and healed me for eternity by His death and resurrection. I thank You that I am blessed because I am not offended by Him. Thank You that in Him You revealed to a spiritual infant like me the things You had hidden from the worldly wise and learned. Keep my heart from becoming hard and unbelieving like those cities He denounced, and help me to lay my burdens at His feet and find my rest in Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins
  • Patti Doty
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes

Missionaries:

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

CLF:

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for Kuna…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Although I am a free man and not anyone’s slave, I have made myself a slave to everyone, in order to win more people. – 1 Corinthians 9:19 (HCSB)
