Observation

What is the Biblical pattern for dealing with interpersonal conflict? Why is it important to pray together as well as alone? What does Jesus teach regarding our obligation to forgive other believers?

Application

Do I follow the pattern here for resolving conflict? Do I pray with my brothers and sisters as well as for them? Do I forgive as I have been forgiven?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father God, I thank You for the clear instruction of Jesus regarding how to live in community with Your people. Remind me when someone sins against me to go to him privately first to try to resolve the matter. Only if he is unwilling to reconcile should I then take one or two people with me to try to reconcile again. Only if he remains unwilling should it then go before the church for one last opportunity to reconcile before being cast out. Keep me from being too quick to want to go to the last two steps before going through the first two. Give me a heart that desires to pray for and with my brothers and sisters in Christ, agreeing together in accordance with Your will. And please give me a heart that is quick to forgive, that does not harbor bitterness and keep a record of wrongs. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Tris & Chris Miller
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael & Jenn Morgan

Ministry:

  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Media Industries (TV/Movies, Radio/Music, Print/Internet)

  • Godly themes/influences
  • Christian workers at all levels sensitive to God’s leading
  • Salvation for influential media leaders
  • Courage to share God’s message
  • Financial rewards for wholesome media

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will find it. – Matthew 16:24-25 (HCSB)
