Scripture

Acts 22

Observation

Why do you suppose Paul, an ethnic Jew and Roman citizen, chose to identify himself as a Jew to the crowd and as a Roman to the centurion and commander? What was the detail in his testimony that caused the crowd to stop listening?

Application

Is there someone in my life with whom I need to share the Gospel? If so, in what ways can I identify with that person in order to better reach him/her? Am I willing to share even the “offensive” parts of the Gospel?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Heavenly Father, I have done things in my life that have been in direct opposition to Your will. And yet Jesus extends His mercy, grace, and forgiveness to me, just as He did with Paul that day on the road to Damascus, so that I can be right with You. I was blind in my sin and rebellion and foolishness, but thanks to the blood of Jesus, I can see. Thank You for choosing to make me Your child. Open my eyes, ears, and heart to know Your will for me today, and strengthen my resolve to obey it. Help me to use whatever experiences and situations I’ve gone through that are applicable to relate with the people you bring across my path and to boldly share Your love revealed in the message of the Gospel with them. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children. And walk in love, as the Messiah also loved us and gave Himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God. – Ephesians 5:1-2 (HCSB)
