Observation

Why doesn’t Paul need a letter of recommendation? What is the significance of the veil Moses wore after meeting with God, and the “veil” on the hearts of people hearing or reading Scripture?

Application

If I were the only “letter from Christ” someone ever read, would they have enough information and motivation to come to Christ? In what ways do I reflect the Lord’s glory and in what ways am I being transformed into His likeness?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father, Thank You for making me Your child. May I be open to Your Spirit’s leading and obedient to Him, such that I am a letter from Christ, written not with ink but with the Holy Spirit, not on stone tablets, but on the tablet of human hearts. May I never fall into the trap of thinking I am competent to do Your work, for my competence comes from You. You have made me competent as a minister of Your new covenant–not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. Even the Law, engraved with letters on stone and bringing death, brought so much of Your glory that Moses had to shield his face with a veil. How much more glorious is the ministry of Your Spirit that brings life and righteousness! And thanks to Christ, I am not like Moses, who had to cover the glory with a veil until it faded away. In Christ the veil is removed, and in Your Spirit I have freedom. With an unveiled face, may I ever reflect Your glory, daily being transformed into Your likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Robin & Florence Henderson
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for area pastors and their families:

  • Encouragement
  • Faithfulness in the Lord’s work
  • Finances
  • Marriage/family relationships
  • Work/life balance
  • Deep friendships and support from other Christian leaders

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. ~Ephesians 5:15-17 (HCSB)
