Observation

What does this passage teach  about what happens when our physical bodies die? What does it mean to have a ministry of reconciliation?

Application

How does this passage affect my attitude toward aging and death? Am I reconciled to God, and if so, how has that impacted my human relationships?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Thank You that if this earthly tent in which I now live is destroyed, I have an eternal house in Heaven, built by Jesus, waiting for me. Meanwhile, I groan, longing for the day I can dwell there, so that what is mortal can be swallowed up in life. For You made me for that very purpose, and You gave me the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. So I walk by faith, not by sight, knowing that as long as I am in this body I am away from You, but upon leaving this body I will be home with You. Regardless, my goal is to please You. While I am here, empower me to persuade people to accept Christ, who died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for their risen Savior and Lord. Because of Him, I am a new creation; the old is gone and the new has come! All this is from You, for You reconciled me to Yourself through Christ, and gave me the ministry of reconciliation–letting others know that You are reconciling people to Yourself in Christ, not counting their sins against them. May I therefore be a good ambassador for Christ, as though You are making Your appeal through me. May I spread the message of reconciliation: that You made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. May I never treat Your grace flippantly or receive it in vain, and may those with whom I share the gospel be moved by your Spirit to understand that now is the time of Your favor, now is the day of salvation. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. ~Ephesians 5:15-17 (HCSB)
