Mark 2

Observation

Why did Jesus choose to forgive the paralytic? Why did He say He healed him? For whom did Jesus come to earth (verse 17)?

Application

Do I have faith that my sins are forgiven by Jesus? Do I truly believe He has the authority to forgive sin? Am I thankful that He came to save and call sinners like me?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father in Heaven, I ask that You would give me the kind of faith this crippled man and his friends had; the kind of faith that actively pursues Jesus and trusts Him to do mighty things. Thank You that Jesus didn’t simply heal this man’s legs and send him on his way, but that He forgave His sins and saved him for eternity! I believe that Jesus has the authority to forgive sin, and I put my trust solely in Him to do just that. Help me to confidently rest in that. Thank You for sending Jesus to call and save sinners like me! I ask all of this in the name of the One who gave Himself for me, Jesus Christ. Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for single adults…

  • To embrace Christ as their best friend and lover of their souls
  • To more fully grasp the family heart of God
  • That God will bring them Godly friends to care for and support them
  • That God will give them a peace and drive away lonliness
  • That God will provide them with meaningful work & ministry in which to use their gifts

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Don’t work for the food that perishes but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal of approval on Him. – John 6:37 (HCSB)
