Observation

What does this passage teach us regarding how Jesus feels about “moderate” Christianity?

Application

Am I an on-fire, radical disciple of Jesus, or am I moderate in my faith, love, and obedience to Him

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Heavenly Father, Keep me ever mindful of the solemn pronouncement of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God’s creation, the One who knows my deeds. I want to be hot with a godly passion and zeal for the Gospel! I don’t want to be lukewarm, among those Jesus is going to vomit out of His mouth! May I never say, “I am rich and have acquired great wealth, and need nothing,” but may I realize that I am wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. I will take Christ’s advice and buy gold from Him refined by fire so I can become rich! I will buy from Him white clothing so I can be clothed and my shameful nakedness will not be exposed. I’ll buy eye salve to put on my eyes so I can see! I will buy these things with my faith in You and Your Word. All those Jesus loves, He rebukes and disciplines. So I earnestly repent! I hear Him standing at the door of my life and knocking! I hear His voice and I now open the door, inviting Him to come into my home and share a spiritual meal with me, and me with Him. I thank You that He grants all those who conquer through Him permission to sit with Him on His throne, just as He, too, conquered and sat down with You, Father, on Your throne. I hear what the Spirit says to the churches, and I choose to obey, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola

Missionaries:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for the elderly…

  • That they will be treated respectfully
  • That they will not dwell on mistakes and regret
  • That God will provide for their health and finances
  • That God will protect them from those who would try to harm them
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Any broken family relationships restored before they pass on

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Therefore, since we have this ministry because we were shown mercy, we do not give up. Instead, we have renounced shameful secret things, not walking in deceit or distorting God’s message, but commending ourselves to every person’s conscience in God’s sight by an open display of the truth. – 2 Corinthians 4:1-2 (HCSB)
