Observation

How can we have fellowship with God and other believers? How are we to deal with sin?

Application

Do I walk in the light, fellowshipping with God and His people? Do I confess my sins and claim His forgiveness, or do I wallow in self-pity and self-loathing and defeat?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Thank You for revealing to Your Apostles what was from the beginning, what they heard, what they saw with their eyes, what they looked at and their hands touched concerning the Word of Life. Thank You for leading them by Your Spirit to testify and announce the eternal life that was with You and was revealed to them in the person of Jesus Christ. Thank You that I have fellowship with them, with Your people, and indeed, fellowship with You, Father, and with Your Son Jesus Christ. Help me to dwell on these things so that my joy may be complete. Thank You for the gospel message: You are light, and in You there is no darkness at all. If I say I have fellowship with You and yet keep on walking in the darkness, I’m lying and not practicing the truth. But thank You that if I walk in the light as You are in the light, I have fellowship with You and with Your people, and the blood of Jesus Your Son cleanses me from all sin. If I say I do not bear the guilt of sin, I’m deceiving myself and the truth is not in me. But I thank You and praise You that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and righteous, forgiving my sins and cleansing me from all unrighteousness. If I say I have not sinned, I make You a liar and Your word is not in me. So I proclaim that I am a sinner, and I thank you for saving me! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
