Observation

What important elements did Jesus’ prayer contain? What did He say we should keep doing, and what did He say would be the result? What is the true situation of those who say they believe Jesus was a good man, but not God or the Savior of the world (23)?

Application

Do I pray for the same things Jesus did? Do I keep asking, searching, and knocking? Do I truly understand that whoever is not with Christ is against Him, no matter how nice or “good” they might seem?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, May Your name be honored as holy. Help me to live in a way that honors Your name. May Your kingdom come, and may Your people humble themselves and subject themselves to You. I ask that You would continue to provide for my daily needs, and I thank You that You have promised to do just that. I trust You to keep Your promise. I thank You that You have forgiven my sins because of Jesus, and I ask that You would help me to forgive others when they sin against me. Keep me from falling into temptation. Help me not to give up praying, but to continually keep on asking and searching for Your will and Your way, knocking at Your door. For Jesus promised that everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Even imperfect earthly fathers know how to give their children good gifts, so I know that You will much more give the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks You. Thank You, Lord! I pray that my loved ones who do not yet know Christ will not let their own “goodness” stand in their way, but that You will show them that if they are not for Jesus, they are against Him. Lead them by Your Spirit to be for Him, I pray! I ask this in His name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins (Gianna)
  • Patti Doty
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)

Missionaries:

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

CLF:

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for Kuna…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word. – 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (HCSB)
