Scripture

Luke 13

Observation

How did Jesus respond to the synagogue leader who was upset He had healed on the Sabbath? What did He teach about God’s kingdom?

Application

Am I more concerned with the appearance of righteousness or with sharing the love and grace of God? Am I allowing God’s Word to work through me and affect my whole being like yeast in dough?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in heaven, Help me never to chastise someone for doing good in Your name! May I always be more concerned with sharing the love of Christ than with following rules. I ask that You would work through me to help grow Your kingdom in my life and in the lives of those You bring in contact with me. In the name of Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

Ministry:

  • Boise Rescue Mission

CLF:

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for Caldwell

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word. – 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (HCSB)
