Observation

How is open sin and rebellion to be handled in the church?

Application

Do I try to be nicer than Jesus, allowing open sin and rebellion to go unhindered among God’s people in the name of “being loving”?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Thank You for clear instruction in Your Word. You hold Your people to a different standard than the lost. Lord, keep me from holding them (and myself) to a lower one! Strengthen me to have nothing to do with a person who claims to be a Christian and yet lives in open unrepentant sin. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins (Gianna)
  • Patti Doty

Missionaries:

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

CLF:

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for the relationship between generations–parents, children, grandparents

  • That the true Christian faith of older generation would be clearly communicated and passed down to children
  • That saved children in unsaved families would clearly exhibit and communicate the faith to their parents and grandparents
  • A harvest of souls of all ages
  • Good, nurturing relationships

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God. – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (HCSB)
