Observation

What reason does David give for asking God to lead and guide him (3)? What important truth does David recognize in verses 5 and 15?

Application

Do I understand and desire that the reason God leads and guides is to bring Himself glory? Because God has power over everything and the course of my life is in His hand, do I entrust myself to Him?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I seek refuge in You; let me never be disgraced for following You. Save me by Your righteousness. You are my rock and my fortress; You lead and guide me because of Your name. Help me to live to glorify Your name and not to defame it. Into Your hand I entrust my spirit; You redeem me, LORD, God of truth. I will rejoice and be glad in Your faithful love because You have seen my affliction. You have known the troubles of my life. When I face adversity, opposition, and mistreatment, may I declare that I trust in You, LORD, and that You are my God. The course of my life is in Your power; deliver me from the power of my enemies and from my persecutors. Show Your favor to Your servant; save me by Your faithful love. How great is Your goodness that You have stored up for those who fear You, and accomplished in the sight of everyone for those who take refuge in You. I praise, You, Lord, for You have wonderfully shown Your faithful love to me! Along with all who put their hope in You, LORD, may I be strong and courageous. I pray these things in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
He has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit produces life. – 2 Corinthians 3:6 (HCSB)
