Observation

How can we know that we really are Jesus’ disciples? Why is the fact that Jesus is God’s Son so important to our spiritual freedom? What is the significance of Jesus’ statement: “Before Abraham was, I am”?

Application

Is my level of consistency in studying God’s Word where Jesus wants it to be–am I being the kind of disciple He wants? In what specific ways do I show in my daily life that I am “really free”?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
“Lord Jesus, I declare that I am Your disciple, and as such, I want to continue in Your Word. Please impress upon me the importance of consistently spending time in Your Word, and grant me the discipline and dedication to be a workman who rightly understands the word of truth. I thank You that Your written Word is the revelation of You–the Living Word–and You are truth. Because I know You, I know the truth and have been set free. Because You are God’s Son and have set me free, I am really free. Help me to be a good servant of my Heavenly Father and honor Him with my life. Help me to seek His glory and not my own. I thank You that because I have accepted Your Word–confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in my heart that God has raised Him from the dead–I will never see death–ever! May I daily grow to know You more, Jesus, and have unity of purpose with You for You are the I AM, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob–and you’re my God, too! Amen.”

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Scott & Kristi Guinn
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
