What is the focus of Jesus’ prayer for Himself? For the disciples in His earthly ministry? For all believers through the ages?

Jesus prayed that His disciples would not be taken out of the world, but protected from the evil one; how does (should) that impact the way I pray for myself? What can I do to allow the Father to sanctify me by His Word of Truth?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father, thank You for glorifying Your Son, for He glorified You. Thank You for giving me eternal life because I know Jesus Christ, whom You sent, and therefore, I know You. I thank You for all Your disciples down through the ages that You gave to Christ. I thank You for the testimony of the saints who have gone before, who did not deny You, even unto death. I thank You that Your gospel came down to me because of Your work in and through them. And now, Lord, I pray for myself and all believers of my time. I ask that You would protect us by Your Name and keep us true to You. I ask that we would glorify You so that You may be glorified in us. I ask that You would continually sanctify us by Your Word of Truth. May we be one, Father, just as You and Christ Jesus are One. May we also be one in You, so the world will believe that You sent Jesus. May we be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Christ and have loved us even as You have loved Him. Father, I thank You that one day those You have given Christ will be with Him where He is, and will see His glory, the glory You have given Him because You loved Him before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know You, we know You, and we know that You have sent Jesus Christ. Thank You that He has made You known to us, and will continue to make You known in order that the love You have for Him may be in us and that Christ Himself may be in us. Amen

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Amy & Debbie Brueggemann
  • Travis & Hali Davidson
  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brian & Eileen Davis

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – John 1:12
