Acts 1

When are the disciples promised they will “receive power”? What will be the result of that power?

How does the purpose of the Holy Spirit’s power described here reveal itself in my life? How does the promise of Christ’s visible return encourage me?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Though we see many who claim to be Your followers teach that the Holy Spirit’s job is to give us everything we want and keep us from ever having to face hardship of any kind, we know from this passage that He has a much more important mission than that; to empower us to be Your witnesses all over the world. Lord, help me to be more open and obedient to His leading. I look forward with eager anticipation to the Day that You will return visibly to earth in the same way You ascended into heaven. I believe that You will return and make all things new, and I praise You! Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin)
  • Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)
  • Janeth & Moy

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

  • Franceine Anderson
  • Jenn Austring
  • Sher Brodoski

  • Lito Dictican, Port of Tacoma

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit – Titus 3:5
