John 6:1-21

What do Jesus’ actions tell us about His attitude toward our physical needs? What does His feeding of so many with so little (and all the leftovers) teach us? Why is the incident about the disciples in the boat and Jesus coming to them on the water important?

What attitudes do I need to change regarding the physical needs of the people within my sphere of influence? In what areas of my life do I need to trust and rely more on Him to provide? What action steps can I take?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord Jesus, thank You for providing a meal for the multitude when they were hungry. Help me to remember that all of my needs are supplied by my Father’s riches in glory by Christ Jesus. And thank You, that, as this story illustrates, You provide abundantly more than all I can ask or imagine. May I be like the young boy who so willingly gave what he had, though it was little, and allowed You to do something great with it. Help me to remember that you love me perfectly, and perfect love casts out all fear, so I can trust You in the storms and darkness of life to keep me safe and to get me where You want me to be. Amen!

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
