Acts 2

Observation

What is the significance of the fact that the believers were all together in one place just before the Spirit came? What important point does Peter make when comparing the death and burial of King David with that of King Jesus? What was the main thrust of Peter’s sermon?

Application

How does the gift of the Holy Spirit impact my life on a daily basis? How can I assimilate Peter’s sermon into my own opportunities to witness?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord, may Your people be “together in one place” in unity so that Your Spirit may flow among us and do a mighty work in us and through us. May we boldly proclaim Your Word to the world around us as Peter did in this passage. May the Spirit’s work among us and through us be so strong and vibrant that it draws, amazes, and perplexes the lost with whom we come in contact. I thank You that everyone who calls on Your Name will be saved! I thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your miracles, that prove You are God’s Son. I thank You, Father, that by Your set purpose and foreknowledge Jesus was handed over to wicked men who put Him to death on the cross, but that You raised Him from the dead, freeing Him from its agony, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him. Thank You for David and the prophets of old who prophesied about Jesus, and that He fulfilled every prophecy and now sits at Your right hand as both Lord and Christ. I pray that many will repent and be baptized. And I pray that this little part of Christ’s body we call Christian Life Fellowship will be devoted to Your Word, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, to prayer, to awe and reverence of You, to giving to those in need, to praise and thanksgiving, and to evangelism and growth. I pray that we will begin to see You adding to our number those who are being saved. I ask this in the Name of Jesus, Amen

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Amy & Debbie Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton
  • Travis & Hali Davidson
  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brian & Eileen Davis

Missionaries:

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

CLF:

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit – Titus 3:5
