Acts 21

Why is Paul so stubborn about going to Jerusalem, in spite of repeated warnings? Were the people warning him doing so based on mere opinion and speculation? What happened to him in Jerusalem that may have made him wish he had listened to the warnings?

Am I ever so stubborn about doing what I think is right that I neglect even the Spirit-led counsel of trusted believing friends? What has been the result? How can I learn from Paul’s experience?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord, Like Paul I sometimes get something in my head and do everything I can to force the situation, forgetting to consult with You or to listen to the counsel of godly, Spirit-filled people You place in my life. Help me to have the humility and wisdom to step back and evaluate whether my mission is really coming from You or just from my idea of what I think You want. Help me to heed Your clear warnings and to trust You to work out Your will in Your way in Your time. But Lord, on the other hand, Paul said he was compelled by The Spirit to go to Jerusalem, even though the Spirit had warned him that hardships and prison awaited him there (Acts 20:22-23). And so I ask that, like Paul, I would have the courage of my convictions when I do believe You have truly spoken to me, even if it means I’ll face great difficulty as a result. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Amy & Debbie Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton
  • Travis & Hali Davidson
  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brian & Eileen Davis

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Rural towns in Treasure Valley – Emmett, Greenleaf, Homedale, Marsing, Middleton, New Plymouth, Parma, Payette, Wilder, Weiser, etc…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
  • For the air base: safety for military and their families (especially those who are deployed), sound military strategies by commanders, impact for Christ in areas where deployed
