Acts 22

Why do you suppose Paul chose to identify himself as a Jew to the crowd and as a Roman (he was both) to the centurion and commander? What was the detail in his testimony that caused the crowd to stop listening?

Is there someone in my life with whom I need to share the Gospel? If so, in what ways can I identify with that person in order to better reach him/her? Am I willing to share even the “offensive” parts of the Gospel?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Heavenly Father, I have done things in my past (and even today) that have been in direct opposition to Your will. And yet Jesus extends His mercy, grace, and forgiveness to me, just as He did with Paul that day on the road to Damascus, so that I can be right with You. I was blind in my sin and rebellion and foolishness, but thanks to the blood of Jesus, I can see. Thank You for choosing to make me Your child. Open my eyes, ears, and heart to know Your will for me today, and strengthen my resolve to obey it. Help me to use whatever experiences and situations are available to relate with people and share Your love with them. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • For the salvation of lost friends, relatives, neighbors, etc.

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Ontario…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
