Acts 27

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

How do Paul’s example and his word affect his traveling companions? How does the centurion treat him and respond to him, and what does this tell us about how Paul must have treated him during his two-year incarceration? How does Paul’s attitude contrast with the attitudes of the sailors?

When things get hectic and even dangerous, how can I remain calm and encouraging like Paul was during the storm and shipwreck? What attitudes and lessons can I take from Paul’s experiences, especially regarding the influence he had on the people in charge of him while a prisoner? As a believer, how should my attitude in hazardous circumstances contrast with unbelievers, and how do I go about making sure that will be the case when such times arise?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord, in today’s passage we see Your provision and protection for Paul and those who traveled with him. In spite of danger and difficulty, while others around him were panicking and fearing for their lives, Paul trusted you and remained calm, encouraging, and helpful, with unwavering faith. Father, help me to know You to the point where I am mature enough to trust You, even in such extreme conditions as these. When danger and emergencies occur, may I ever be trustful, knowing that You are in control and hold my eternal destiny in Your hand. Instead of panic and fear, may I respond calmly with faith and encouragement, looking out for the welfare of those around me, and give You all glory no matter the outcome. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Amy & Debbie Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton
  • Travis & Hali Davidson
  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brian & Eileen Davis

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for young children in our community

  • For Godly influences
  • For safety and protection from accidents, abuse, and predators
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For a heart to learn and to know God from a young age
  • That they will not be prodigals, but remain true to God all the days of their lives

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” – John 11:25-26
