Observation

How does justification affect our relationship with God? What should be the believer’s perspective regarding suffering? How did God show His love for us?

Application

In what ways have I suffered in my life, and in retrospect how can I see that God used that to build perseverance, character, and hope in me? How does/should the phrase “at the appointed moment” impact my ability to trust God? Does my life show that I am rejoicing in God for the reconciliation I have through Christ Jesus?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father, from the bottom of my heart I thank You that You have justified me and I now have peace with You through the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom I have gained access by faith into this grace in which I now stand. I rejoice in the hope of Your glory. Help me to also rejoice in times of suffering, knowing that You’ve allowed it into my life to build perseverance, character, and the hope that does not disappoint, because You have poured out Your love into my heart by the Holy Spirit, whom You have given me. I thank You that at Your appointed time–just the right time–when mankind was still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. And while very rarely someone might possibly dare to die for a good and righteous man, You demonstrated Your own love for us in this: While we were still sinners Christ died for us. Oh, Lord, I can never thank You enough that I have now been justified by His blood and I shall be saved from Your wrath through Christ! For if, while I was still Your enemy I was reconciled to You by the death of Your Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall I be saved through His life! And so, Father, with a heart of gratitude and praise I rejoice in You through my Lord Jesus Christ, through whom I have now received reconciliation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
