Romans 5:12-21

How did sin enter the world, and what was the result? How is the gift different from the trespass?

How does knowing that I inherited a sin nature that leads to death affect my attitude toward the gift of salvation in Christ Jesus? According to verse 21, how does (should) having received God’s grace impact my lifestyle?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Oh God my Father, As a member of the human race, I have inherited death because I have inherited sin. All have sinned, Lord, and that means me. But I thank You that the gift is not like the trespass. For as every human must die because of one trespass, Your grace is so much more powerful, overflowing to many and removing the sin of all who believe on Jesus Christ! Judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation to all of Adam’s descendants, but the gift of Christ’s sacrifice covers all of those trespasses for all who believe. Having received Your abundant provision of grace and Your gift of righteousness through Christ gives me life for all eternity! Just as the result of Adam’s one sin was condemnation for all men, so also the result of Christ’s one perfect act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all who accept it. Though in Adam we were made sinners, in Jesus we are made righteous. I thank You that no one is too sinful to be saved, for where there is more sin, You offer more grace. Just as sin resulted in death, grace reigns in righteousness–the righteousness of Christ placed on and in me–to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord! In His precious Name I pray, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin)
  • Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)
  • Janeth & Moy

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for the elderly…

  • That they will be treated respectfully
  • That they will not dwell on mistakes and regret
  • That God will provide for their health and finances
  • That God will protect them from those who would try to harm them
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Any broken family relationships restored before they pass on

  • Franceine Anderson
  • Jenn Austring
  • Sher Brodoski

  • Lito Dictican, Port of Tacoma

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • That they will have hope
  • For mentors in the prison/jail system

If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. – John 7:17
