Scripture

Romans 6:1-11

Observation

What does it mean to be “dead to sin” and “not live in it any longer”? Does this mean we will never sin again? What hope do we have in Christ regarding this body of sin?

Application

How does this passage apply to addictive behavior in the Christian’s life generally, and addictive behavior in my life specifically? How does this passage equip me to respond to the voices reminding me of my past sins and mistakes? What do I need to do daily to keep myself from a lifestyle of sin?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, I thank You once again for Your incredible grace. But let me never use grace as an excuse to sin. I have died to sin and am alive in Christ; I have a new nature and am no longer a slave to a sinful lifestyle. Now when I sin, it is because I choose to. Lord, help me to choose NOT to sin. I thank You that we will one day be united with Christ in His resurrection, when this sinful body will be changed into an immortal glorified body that will never have to face temptation, because we will be completely freed from sin. In the meantime, help me to live to Christ and die to sin. Daily crucify my flesh and the sin that dwells in it and help me to walk in the spirit. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Amy & Debbie Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton
  • Travis & Hali Davidson
  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brian & Eileen Davis

Missionaries:

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

CLF:

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Government: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. – John 7:17
