Scripture

Romans 11:11-36

Observation

Why does Paul want Gentile readers to be aware of God’s plan? What is his warning to the Gentiles about their attitude toward Jews?

Application

Do you ever find yourself focusing more on rituals than God’s saving grace? How does arrogance between denominations and different Christian churches affect their effectiveness in ministry? How does this passage apply to that?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God My Father, You are the God of all who come to You through faith in Christ, whether Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female, rich or poor. I thank You that You allow Gentiles to come to You, yet You have not rejected anyone from Israel who will turn to Jesus. I ask that Israel will become envious of Gentile Christians and want the same relationship for themselves. I ask that no racism or prejudice or arrogance would come between Gentile Christians and Israel; help us to remember that our spiritual heritage comes through Israel, and that we are branches grafted in where the natural branches broke off because of unbelief. But I ask that those branches would come in faith and be grafted back in as well. Thank You for Your kindness, and let me not forget Your sternness. I look forward to the day when Israel will turn to You en mass. O the depth of the riches and wisdom of God! How unsearchable Your judgments, and Your paths beyond tracing out! Who has known Your mind, Lord, or has ever been Your counselor, or ever given to You and needs to be repaid? For from You and through You and to You are all things. To You alone be the glory forever! Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

Ministry:

  • Boise Rescue Mission

CLF:

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for Ontario…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. – John 15:4
