Romans 2:17-29

Read or listen to today’s passage at Bible Gateway:

According to this passage, what is the value of religious rites and ceremonies? What is more important?

If I honestly evaluate my life, have I been more concerned with superficial religious matters or with the state of my heart before God?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Oh God my Father, I come before You humbly, confessing that all too often I think too highly of myself. Too often, I consider myself “a guide to the blind,” forgetting that without Christ, I am just as blind as anyone. Too often I become enamored of my own appearance of godliness, when the only really important thing is whether my heart is right before You. May no one ever blaspheme You on account of me. Help me to remember that a heart that follows You by Your Spirit and not by a written code is what matters to You, and teach me to seek praise from You, not from people. In the precious Name of Jesus my Savior I pray, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin)
  • Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)
  • Janeth & Moy

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for area pastors and their families

  • Deep friendships and support from other Christian leaders

  • Franceine Anderson
  • Jenn Austring
  • Sher Brodoski

  • Lito Dictican, Port of Tacoma

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.
