Romans 4:13-25

What do verses 18-21 teach us about faith? How does Abraham’s faith relate to what God calls us to believe in verses 23-25?

Do I believe God is trustworthy and keeps His promises? How does (or should) that impact my confidence regarding my future in this life and the next? The last verse of this passage states that Christ “was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.” How has the resurrection power of Christ impacted my life?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, I thank You for the righteousness that comes only from faith in Jesus, and because I am in Christ I have been delivered from Your wrath into Your grace to be Your child and heir. Give me a faith like Your servant Abraham’s that is unwavering regardless of appearances or circumstances. He is the father of all who live by faith, who believed You and hoped in You against all hope. He did not waver in unbelief at Your promise but was strengthened in his faith and gave You glory, because he was fully convinced that what You had promised You were also able to perform. Therefore, it was credited to him for righteousness. I thank You that this promise is not limited to Abraham, but is extended to all who believe in You who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. Thank You that He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. I give You all the praise and glory in His Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for single adults…

  • To embrace Christ as their best friend and lover of their souls
  • To more fully grasp the family heart of God
  • That God will bring them Godly friends to care for and support them
  • That God will give them a peace and drive away lonliness
  • That God will provide them with meaningful work & ministry in which to use their gifts

If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. – John 7:17
