Observation

What does Paul say about the usefulness of prophecy (literally: proclaiming the truth of God) in the church versus tongues? How are the gifts to be used in corporate worship?

Application

Do I use my gifts and God-given talents to edify others in my church? If not, in what ways can I begin to do so?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, Thank You for all the gifts of Your Spirit. Help me not to get so wrapped up in seeking a particular gift that I forget the One who gives it and the importance of using whatever You have given me to edify others for the strengthening of Your church. May everything always be done in a fitting and orderly way, that we may bring glory to You in our corporate worship. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

Ministry:

  • Boise Rescue Mission

CLF:

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. – 2 Peter 3:18
