Why did Paul consider a monetary collection so important? Why was he staying in Ephesus?

What is my attitude and action regarding giving to my church and other ministries? Which of the following exhortations from verses 13-14 do I need to apply to my life right now?
a) Be on your guard.
b) Stand firm in the faith.
c) Be courageous.
d) Be strong.
e) Do everything in love.

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, May I ever be willing and faithful to give to Your work and Your people. I ask that great doors for effective ministry would open for me and my church, and that You would act on our behalf against any who would oppose us. When those who are doing the work of the Lord come to us, may we receive them warmly, aid them as needed, and when it is time for them to go, send them on their way in peace. Help me to be on guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong, and do everything in love. Help me to devote myself to the service of the saints and to submit to other believers in love. Help me to be a person that refreshes the spirits of others, and to give recognition to those who excel in this. May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with me. I ask these things in His Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • For the salvation of lost friends, relatives, neighbors, etc.

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Meridian

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. – Matthew 7:7
